Did I sleep through a few months?

It's the middle of March. Why is the high for today supposed to be 80°?

I actually did my annual PM on the lawn mower this past weekend. I changed the spark plug, oil and air filter and sharpened the blade (note to self: it has some bad nicks, probably need to replace it next year).

I am actively planning on mowing the yard next weekend.

In March.

In Northern Kentucky.

Please tell me I slept through a few months and it's actually mid-May instead. Then this would all make sense.

Bad news, good news, bad news

Bad news: tornado warnings in the area
Good news: they closed the office early
Bad news: my bus doesn't come for 10 more minutes

Waking my inner child

I just looked out the window here at the office and saw snow flakes coming down. It's actually coming down at a decent clip, but I doubt there will be any accumulation (thankfully).

What is about snow, though? For some reason, my inner child always seems to wake up and demand attention when it's snowing, especially the first good snowfall of the year. Even being in my mid-30s*, I still have this almost irresistible urge to run downstairs and catch snowflakes on my tongue, and to just frolick in the wintery wonder of fluffy water.

Now, if you'll excuse me, there's 15 minutes until my next meeting, which is plenty of time to run downstairs real quick!!

Traction is overrated

Having lived in Northern Kentucky for ~18 months now, I've had my fair share of rain storms, snow storms, hot days, muggy days, and the like.

This morning, however, was my first experience with an "ice storm"1.  The last time I experienced one of these was in the mid-90's while I was in college in Texas.  Let's just say that sliding down your driveway in an uncontrolled manner is NOT the best way to start your morning.

1There was basically no accumulation.  It was just enough to slick everything over.  My car didn't even hard-freeze.

Weather or not?

These are the kinds of weather forecasts I just LOVE

I have stuff to do this weekend, that I couldn't get done last weekend because it was snowing.  This is Not Good.

*grumble*
